Going out in Chicago

The hardest thing about going out in Chicago is choosing where to go. There is an endless list of entertainment which caters for every taste, young and old. The best place to find listings of venues, acts and general things to do, is in the massive weekly publication, the Reader. It details everything coming up during the following week, and is a must-have paper. The local people love a good time, and so generally speaking, venues tend to be fairly crowded. It is always best to phone in advance to check availability. It is also advised to check age restrictions, bearing in mind the people on the door tend to be very strict. The legal age for alcohol consumption is 21. If you are in doubt about either of these factors, bring a good form of photographed identification with you. Don't forget that some places may operate a tipping procedure. The following is just a short list of some recommended places to go, but bear in mind it is by no means conclusive.
